Islamabad : Pakistan’s provincial assembly in North West Frontier Province Tuesday passed a resolution asking President Pervez Musharraf to take a confidence vote.
The resolution asked Musharraf to take a confidence vote from the provincial assembly or resign if he fails to take confidence vote, according to the News Network International (NNI) news agency.
The 124-member house adopted the resolution with the backing of 107 votes and only 4 opposing it, the NNI report said, adding that the resolution proposed Musharraf be impeached if he did not resign.
The country’s biggest province Punjab also adopted a no-confidence resolution against Musharraf on Monday.
The resolutions of these two provinces are follow-up measures taken by the ruling coalition to pull Musharraf down.
The Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari announced on Aug. 7 that the ruling coalition would initiate the proceedings to impeach Musharraf.
