Singapore Defense Ministry’s permanent secretary Chiang Chie Foo and his Indian counterpart Defense Secretary Vijay Singh inked the bilateral agreement at the Indian Defense Ministry in New Delhi Tuesday.

The Defense Ministry said here Wednesday the agreement was the second one to be signed between the two republics after the first one in October last year involving just the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF).

In a statement, the Singaporean defense ministry said the conclusion of the latest agreement for its army was further testament to the growing bilateral ties between Singapore and India.

Since 2005, the two armies have conducted only armour and artillery exercises codenamed “Ex-Bold Kurukshetra” and “Ex-Agni” Warrior in India.

The most recent armour exercise was in Babina last May, and the next artillery exercise is scheduled to be held in Devlali in November, the statement said.
