Dubai : Foreigners holding residency visas in any of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations can now enter Kuwait by simply securing a tourist visa at any of the country’s entry points.
First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Acting Interior Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has issued a resolution amending a previous ministerial decision regulating entry of residents of GCC states into the country, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
Apart from Kuwait, the other GCC countries are Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the new rules, foreigners, holding a residency visa of at least six-month expiry in any of the GCC countries, can now enter Kuwait with a tourist visa issued at border checkpoints, exits and ports.
The law is applicable to pharmacists, lawyers, engineers, consultants, judges, prosecutors, professors, journalists, pilots, computer data analysts, business managers, diplomats, owners and managers of business companies and holders of university degrees.
There are over 4.8 million expatriate Indians across the GCC region.
