Colombo : Taking into consideration the allegation leveled by a Sri Lankan housemaid who recently returned from Kuwait, contending that she had received no assistance from the Sri Lanka Mission in Kuwait after being allegedly pushed from the upper floor of a house by her employer, Minister of Foreign Affairs has ordered a full scale investigation pertaining to the cited issue.
He also called upon the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait to provide a comprehensive report on this matter, a ministry press release said.
The Minister has assured that stern action would be taken against officers in the Mission, if they are found wanting in discharging their duties to protect the rights of the housemaid.
He further emphasized that all Sri Lankan Missions abroad are duty bound to provide the best possible consular service and other assistance to Sri Lankans who are in distress, the release added.
