Kabul : The US-led coalition forces have killed several militants in an operation in the Afghan province of Kapisa, some 80 km away from capital here, said a coalition statement Saturday, without specifying the number of the dead.
During a search operation targeting a Taliban commander in a compound in Tag Ab district Friday, armed militants engaged coalition force, who responded with airstrikes and small-arms fire.
Several militants were killed in the operation, the statement said.
Conflicts and spiralling insurgency have claimed more than 2,500 lives so far this year in Afghanistan.
