Shimla : Rainfall in many parts of Himachal Pradesh waned Sunday, reducing the danger of floods in neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana that are downstream of many rivers, said a senior official.
Most of the rivers in the hill state are in spate and created a flood-like situation in Punjab and Haryana in the past few days.
Shimla received just 20 mm of rain during the past 24 hours, while Solan and Dharamsala towns received 21 mm and 17 mm rainfall respectively.
The state capital received 101 mm of rainfall Friday, while Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Una and Solan towns got 229 mm, 243 mm, 88 mm and 20 mm respectively.
Met Department director Manmohan Singh said the intensity of rain in the hill state would reduce during the next 24 hours.
He said this would likely to reduce the flood threat in neighbouring states.
