The military operation against Taliban insurgents would continue until they surrender, the official said.

The ceasefire can only hold if Taliban surrender their arms openly in Islamabad, the Geo TV channel quoted the prime minister’s advisor on interior affairs as saying.

Malik said at least 550 Taliban militants have been killed in the recent military operation in the country’s northwestern Bajaur region.
