The infiltrators from Pakistan opened fire to divert the attention of security forces and cut the barbed wire fence to cross into the Kana Chak sector, about 20 km north of here.

“A heavily armed group infiltrators cut the fence and entered the Indian territory. They were heading toward Jammu and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab them,” a BSF official said on condition of anonymity.

The BSF guards a section of the 198 km LoC – the de-facto border between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir – from Kathua to Akhnoor.
