Hyderabad : Baleeghuddin Jabir, son of Haren Pandya murder case accused Moulana Naseeruddin has gone missing since a special police party raided his residence in Saeedabad colony in Hyderabad last evening. The family alleged that 50 to 60 policemen in plainclothes barged in to their home breaking open the doors, ransacked the rooms, threw their belonging on the floor and took away the PSU of their computer.
Jabir’s mother Tasneem Fatima lodged a complaint with the Saeedabad police station about his son’s disappearance. She told the media that she suspect that he was picked up by the police.
“I and my daughter Safia Batool were alone with children in home when police barged in to the house from all directions creating terror. Despite repeated pleas they did not allow us even to wear Burqa. The women police constables even abused us in filthy language and closed the mouth of my daughter”, said a shocked Tasneem Fatima.
The police had also fanned in to the neighborhood during the search operation and closed the doors of other houses from outside so no body could come out.
The Hyderabad city police commissioner B Prasad Rao confirmed the raid and search of the house but denied that Jabir was arrested by the police. “Police team wanted to give an element of surprise but we did not intend to hurt the feelings on the issue of Paurdah. We have assured the family that such things will not happen in future”, he said.
He said that the police was looking for Jabir, a third year student of engineering in connection with a conspiracy case as well as some other cases. The raid was carried out by the personnel of Task Force and anti terror cell.
“When the police asked that they were looking for Jabir, I told him that he had gone for evening prayers and they can look for him in the mosque. Since then my son is missing”, Tasneem Fatima said.
Jabir is the third son of Moulana Naseruddin to be picked up by the police. One son Nasir is in Belgaum jail facing terror related charges while another son Yasser, a MBA degree holder is in Charlapally jail in Hyderabad in connection with a criminal conspiracy case.
Moulana Naseeruddin himself is in Sabarmati Jail of Ahmedabad since 2004 in connection with Haren Pandya murder case and Ahmedabad conspiracy case.
Prasad Rao said that if police had taken Jabir in to custody, it would have announced it. “There is no reason for to keep it secret”, he said. But Tasneema Fatima said that even in the past also police had declared arrest much after the persons were picked up.
The family members of Jabir including his wife Ayesha Sultana met the Deputy Commissioner of police Prabhakar Rao today and lodged their protest against the abusive behavior of the police. “We are not against searches. We are ready to cooperate with the police if they seek it. But this is not the method of doing it. They have humiliated us by forcing us to remain with out Burqa”, she said.
Moulana Naseeruddin’s family, which is under the police scanner for several years is closely related another religious figure Moulana Abdul Aleem Islahi, whose son Mujahid Saleem was killed by Gujrat police in October 2004 in Hyderabad and whose second son Moatasim Billah was arrested by the police in connection with criminal conspiracy case in Hyderabad and later released.
