Srinagar : With the minimum temperature dropping to minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, Kashmir Valley had its season’s coldest day Tuesday, officials of the meteorology department said.
“The minimum temperature Tuesday was minus 2.5 degrees Celsius. This is the season’s lowest so far,” meteorology department assistant director T.K. Jotshi told IANS here.
“However, visibility in Srinagar town dropped to less than 10 m Tuesday morning because of fog. The weather would remain clear during the next three days which means the temperature could fall further due to clear night skies,” he said.
For the first time, taps at many places in the town and nearby areas have frozen.
The valley already had early snowfall last month.
