Deepak Kumar, a deputy general manager with Reliance Communications went missing Friday last week from Patna’s Shrikrishna Puri area, according to a complaint filed by his family members.

According to the police, Deepak Kumar was not abducted but killed by his friends after he got into an altercation regarding the wife of one of his friends.

“We arrested Amit Kumar, who revealed during interrogation that Deepak Kumar had been killed Friday night itself,” a police official said.

The police, however, admitted that they have not yet recovered Deepak Kumar’s body.

“We demand that the state government hand over the probe to the CBI because the theory floated by the Patna police is false,” Deepak Kumar’s brother Abhay Kumar Singh said.

“How can we accept the police theory unless his body is recovered,” Singh asked.

Deepak Kumar’s family had lodged a case of kidnapping Saturday night, nearly 24 hours after the 30-year-old failed to return home. Deepak Kumar’s car was found abandoned Saturday night near the Kotwali police station.
