Jaipur : Rajasthan Governor S.K. Singh, who had to wait to cast his vote in the elections Thursday after the electronic voting machine (EVM) failed, said he wanted to be the first one to exercise his franchise as he is the first citizen of the state.
“As the first citizen, I wanted to vote first,” the Governor rued that he could not do so and had to wait for half an hour.
The EVM developed a snag when the Governor went to cast his vote at the designated polling station. It could not be repaired for half an hour and the machine was replaced.
“I would have punished the guilty if that person was present,” an angry Singh told a section of the media covering the polls.
Rajasthan went to polls Thursday to elect a new 200-member house.
