Doha : Under the patronage of the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor al Thani, the First Arab Human Rights Conference will open in Qatari capital, Doha, Sunday Dec 14, at the Four Seasons Hotel.
The Conference is organised by the National Human Rights Committee in cooperation with the Arab league, coinciding with celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on Dec 10.
The three-day Conference will be attended by Arab justice ministers, human rights ministers, and representatives from Arab institutions on human rights as well as a number of regional and international human rights organisations and the concerned civil society organisations.
Dr. Ali bin Smiekh al Merri, Secretary General of the National Human Rights Committee said in a statement Saturday that the Conference aims to promote the Arab Charter for Human Rights and to discuss among other related topics, the Arab League strategic action plan on protection and enhancement of human rights.
