Gun toting commandos have taken over the route leading to the Government Higher Secondary School, Satwari – the venue of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s election rally.

Even Congress activists are being frisked at three points before entry to the rally site. “All this is necessary in view of the security of the VVIP,” a senior police official said, supervising the security arrangements.

The rally site is part of Gandhi Nagar constituency of Jammu city. The prime minister is to first go to the Kashmir Valley, where he is scheduled to address a rally in Shangus constituency in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag. He will later arrive in Jammu to address the rally.
