Islamabad : Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday said the government owns responsibility to resolve masses problems as the blame game is no solution to the issues.
“People gave us the mandate on February 18. We are custodians of this mandate and take responsibility to resolve the problems,” he said in response to Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and the PML-Q members questioning each other about their performance.
“I would say to the ministers of my cabinet to accept the responsibility. We have been given mandate by the people and we own this responsibility,” Gilani said.
“If people would have given mandate to them (PML-Q), their responsibility had been increased. But, they gave us the mandate, so now it is our responsibility,” Gilani said.
He however sought the support from opposition to fight out the problems confronting the country.
“Problems we are facing today are not only of a particular party but the whole nation. We would lead to resolving these problems. But, we need your support and guidance as well.”
Gilani said the blame game would not help resolve the problems rather “we own the responsibility and we would deliver it.”
“I say to opposition, it is not your responsibility. It is our responsibility,” he added.
He asked the opposition leaders and members of his cabinet to shun blame game as it was no solution to problems.
Later, the PML-Q Parliamentary Leader Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat lauded Gilani’s remarks and hoped that the cabinet members would never blame the previous government for the prevailing issues.
He said the statistics released by Federal Bureau of Statistics show that inflation has increased during the tenure of the present government.
He said, “People gave you the mandate so you should accept the challenges as resolution of issues is your responsibility not of the opposition.”
