The Pakistani Foreign Ministry release says the intrusion “violates the 1991 bilateral agreement for the prevention of air space violation.”

Islamabad assures that two Indian fighter jets flew over Cashmir, Pakistan, near Lahore, and in Punjab province, but India rejects the accusation.

Pakistan claims that it sent up its fighter jets to chase the intruders but belittled the intrusions which it calls “technical” and “distractions”.

Pakistan downed two Indian fighter jets at Kargil mountain area in 1999 during clashes with Islamic extremists backed by Pakistan.

Tension escalated between both countries since the November 26 bombings in Mumbay, India, which New Delhi blames to the Pakistan-based Islamic extremist group Lashkar-i-Taiba.
