Jamnagar (Gujarat) : The local administration swung into action after a phone call said a hijacked aircraft had landed at the Indian Air Force (IAF) base here Saturday afternoon. However, it was only a mock drill.
As soon as the air traffic controller (ATC) informed Jamnagar district collector V.P. Patel of the “hijack”, a melee of police and fire brigade personnel and army men in four trucks and ambulances rushed to the airport near Jamnagar, about 450 km from Ahmedabad.
All of them heaved a sigh of relief when it finally turned out to be a mock drill.
Patel later told the media: “I received a phone call and I alerted the administration.”
