According to media reports, the Wada police in Thane seized the explosives near Khanpoli village. It said that the explosive materials were illegally brought.

Noticeably the explosives of such nature are used in the rural areas of Thane for breaking the hills and digging earth and only those having license are allowed to purchase it after police permission which is must. The motive behind these explosives is not clear as the driver of the jeep successfully fled the scene. So it is difficult to rule out the possibility of the explosives being taken for carrying out bomb blasts.

No sooner the police had started surrounding the jeep than the man in the jeep was informed and he fled away. How on the earth he slipped away from the clutches of police is a mystery.

The explosives is said to be worth four lakhs. The Wada police are investigating the matter.
