Mumbai : It was an event which showed that an organ transplant is no handicap for taking part in sports.
About 150 people, recipients of kidney and other organs and their donors from across the country, participated in an athletics meet at the “Transplant Games” Thursday.
The event was organised by Narmada Kidney Foundation at the Goregaon Sports Club in north-west Mumbai.
A recipient of kidney Ashok Joshi said: “After this event, we have started feeling that we are as healthy as any sportsperson.”
Member of Narmada Kidney Foundation Bharat V. Shah said the event served two purposes. “First, the athletes could show how normal life is after transplant. Second, it raised awareness about the need for people to become organ donors.”
