Islamabad : Russian version of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s book, “Reconciliation – Islam,Democracy and the West” was launched in Russia to mark the first anniversary of her martyrdom.
According to a message received here from Moscow a large number of Russian scholars, journalists, students and Pakistanis attended the function on Friday.
Dr. Tariq Chaudhry, a Pakistani businessman in Moscow, who arranged translation and publication of the Russian version of the book also spoke on the occasion.
He said the purpose of bringing out Russian version of the book is to enable the Russians to comprehend the reconciliation vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and promote better understanding between the people of both the countries.
Russian scholars and students in their speeches expressed great appreciation for the thinking of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Speaking as chief guest, the Ambassador of Pakistan in Russia, M. Khalid Khatak said it is an outstanding book by an outstanding political leader who lost her life in the fight against terrorism. Her martyrdom was for peace and justice.
The Ambassador said that Shaheed Benazir, who had the unique distinction of being the first woman to be elected twice the Prime Minister of an Islamic country, wrote this book on a challenging subject.
