Doctors of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) went on a strike demanding security in the hospital campus.

“Resident doctors and locals clashed after a person was hit by the vehicle of a doctor,” said Mahesh Paswan, deputy superintendent of police.

Emergency services at the institute were disrupted and no new patient was being admitted, according to hospital officials.

A man was mildly injured after being hit by a vehicle driven by an RIMS doctor. The injured had a heated argument with the doctor, which ended up in a physical brawl.

The injured later came to RIMS hostel with around 50 people and tried to beat resident doctors there, but were chased away.

Later hundreds of people stormed into the RIMS campus and thrashed some doctors and broke window panes of some vehicles there, according to the police.

“The situation is under control,” said the police officer.
