The report said that a Lebanese diplomatic team will arrive in Damascus next Monday to set up arrangement for the opening of the Lebanese embassy in Damascus.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Flag flew Friday for the first time over a building in Beirut, which has a plaque saying “Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic” written in both Arabic and English.

The Syrian embassy is located in the first three floors in a building in Hamra business district of West Beirut .

The official date for the opening was not declared yet, but Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem had told As-Safier daily earlier this week that it will be opened officially “immediately after Christmas.”

On Monday, three Syrian diplomats arrived at the embassy, but the name of the ambassador was not announced yet.

Lebanon and Syria decided in summer to set diplomatic ties for the first time since their independent over 60 years ago.
