Makkah : The Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) urged the Muslims to learn lessons from the Hijrah (migration) of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) from Makkah to Madinah. In a statement issued yesterday on the eve of the new Hijrah year of 1430, which falls today, MWL Secretary General Dr. Abdullah Al Turki called on the Muslims to unite their ranks and to work jointly for confronting the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. Dr. Al Turki asked the Muslim governments and nations to adhere to the teachings of Allah Almighty and to apply the Islamic Shariah. The statement called for extending support to the Palestinian people and to rescue the citizens of Gaza from the Israeli aggression. He also drew the attention of the Muslims to the importance of studying the biography of the Prophet and said the Muslims should benefit from it. The statement also called the Muslims to clarify the teachings of Islam to the others.
Dr. Al Turki underlined the importance of coordination of efforts for defending the interests of the Muslim nation through formulating the joint Islamic work. He expressed sorrow and grief over the violations carried out by the Israeli authorities in Palestine, and urged the Palestinians to unify their ranks and reach a joint formula for the national work. As regards the situation in Iraq, he warned against sectarian seditions and called on the Iraqis to reconcile and build their country. He called on the Muslim countries to support Iraqi unity and to work for ending seditions there.
On Somalia, Dr. Al Turki called on the Muslim government to present an initiative for tackling the Somalian problem and confronting the phenomenon of piracy. Dr. Al Turki lauded the initiatives of King Abdullah to salvage the citizens of Gaza. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan to unite the ranks of the Muslims and solve their problems.
