United Nations : The Non Aligned Movement strongly condemned Israeli military aggressions against the Gaza Strip, resulting in hundreds of casualties, including children.
In a statement approved at the UN headquarters on Monday, the NAM Coordinating Bureau described the Israeli military escalation as “unacceptable, a serious violation of international law, including humanitarian and human rights regulations.”
NAM stressed that these attacks fuel the cycle of violence, threatening international peace and security and the fragile peace process between the parties.
NAM demands the immediate cessation of Israeli military attacks and urges Tel Aviv to fulfill its obligations under international law and UN resolutions.
These violent, illegal military actions and the collective punishment of the Palestinian people have deepened the suffering of defenceless innocent people in the Gaza Strip, already under Israeli siege and hit by a humanitarian crisis.
The 118-member NAM, currently led by Cuba, called the international community, the UN Security Council in particular, to comply with international law and their responsibilities and act immediately to solve this serious situation in the Gaza Strip and stressed its support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
At least 350 people have been killed and over 1,600 wounded in Israeli aggressions against the overpopulated, impoverished Gaza Strip, under illegal occupation by Tel Aviv, according to press reports.
