Sarajevo : The second round of presidential elections starts here on Sunday which occupy regional and European importance as they are conducted between the representative of mainstream nationalist leader Vojislav Nikolic and the representative of the moderates and current President Boris Tadic.
Observers here say that the chances of both candidates are so close, a matter that gives those elections a special attention.
Polls opened at seven o’clock this morning where nearly 6.7 million registered voters started exercising their right amid strict security measures and high-density that has not been witnessed in the country for many years.
Although European observers give the moderate candidate Tadic a greater chance, however, the results will not be known until dawn tomorrow.
The elections are being followed by hundreds of foreign observers. The government of Serbia has banned US and British observers to attend because of the positions of both countries on the issue of Kosovo, which occupies a key position in the media campaigns of presidential candidates.
