Kuwait : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah is in Bahrain to participate in the Kuwaiti-Bahraini higher committee meeting.
Speaking to reporters prior to his departure on Saturday, Sheikh Mohammad said the two countries were bound by “a strong relationship characterized by a distinctively special nature.”
He added that bilateral relations were “historic and the peoples belong to a since family and one tribe that is divided only by the Gulf waters.”
Sheikh Mohammad said the committee meeting would include a number of agreements “and the focus will be on the economic side and means to boost cooperation in this area with our brothers in Bahrain.”
The minister added that Kuwait was in constant contact with authorities of the GCC member states “and we begin today in Bahrain,” explaining that a similar UAE-Kuwait committee meeting would be held in the Emirates next week.
Asked about reports that a meeting of GCC foreign ministers would be held to discuss proposals made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he said, “These (proposals) will be discussed in the next meeting of GCC foreign minister and not in a special session.”
