Abu Dhabi’s economy to grow by about eight percent in 2008

Abu Dhabi : The economy of the emirate of Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates (UAE) will grow by eight percent in 2008, according to the projections made by the chairman of the nAbu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), WAM news agency reported Monday.

The gross domestic product of the emirate is expected to reach $110 billion in 2007 and $160 billion by 2010, Selah Al Shamsi said in an address to the Abu Dhabi Economic Forum Sunday.

“Great achievements made in the last two years in regards to government restructuring and greater engagement of the private sector in the emirate’s comprehensive development will open up a new chapter of public-private sector partnership,” he added.

Shamsi said that the sound economic policy adopted by the government of Abu Dhabi has created a competitive investment environment locally and internationally.

The two-day Arab Economic Forum, which started Sunday, plans to discuss economic trends in Abu Dhabi, impact of government’s new policy on investment flows, government spending and business opportunities in the emirate’s various economic sectors.
