Islamabad : The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Tuesday made the will of assassinated Benazir Bhutto accesible to the public, silencing several questions about the appointment of her widower as the party chairman and validity of the will.
The one-page will was hand-written by Bhutto, signed Oct 16, 2007.
According to media reports, the will paid tribute to Bhutto’s father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who was hanged by the country’s former military dictator.
She has expressed her desire that her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, leads the party after her demise ‘for an interim period’. However, party consensus decides future course.
She has also mentioned in her will that she fears for the future of Pakistan and asked her party to continue the fight against extremism, poverty, and dictatorship.
After Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister and leading opposition leader, was killed in a suicide blast in December in Rawalpindi, her party elected her widower as the party co-chairman and her son, Bilawal Bhutto, as the chairman.
However, her party decided that Asif will lead the party till Bilawal completes his education.
