New York : Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who made meditation a household word in the world after introducing it to the west 50 years ago, passed away Tuesday at his organisation’s headquarters in Vlodrop, the Netherlands.
The Jabalpur-born guru died of natural causes at age 91.
Ken Chawkin, a media relations official of the organisation in the US, confirmed the news to IANS.
The Maharishi had stepped down last month as the head of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement which he founded in 1958.
