Islamabad : Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Interior Lt-Gen (retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan has urged the leadership of slain former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) to hand over evidence if they have any, to the investigating team probing the suicide attack on her in Rawalpindi.

“I have come to know that the PPP leaders have stated they will provide evidence only to the UN investigators. Taking this opportunity, I urge them to provide the evidence, if any, to the investigating team as it would help nab the real culprits behind the assassination of Bhutto,” Nawaz told reporters.

The Minister said the Scotland Yard investigators had met PPP co-chairperson Asif Zardari, Ms Bhutto’s widower, and had asked him to hand over the evidence to them.

The minister said that Zardari had handed over the clothing of late Ms Bhutto while he had also allowed the investigators to meet and seek information from the PPP leaders who were present in her vehicle at the time of the attack.
