Six Palestinians killed, four injured in Israeli raids

Gaza : Six Palestinians were killed and four others were wounded in Israeli air raids in the northeastern parts of Gaza City early Thursday.

Palestinian eyewitnesses said Israeli jet planes fired a number of rockets at groups of activists in Al-Qaram area, north of Gaza City, killing six people and injuring four others.

Local radio stations said five of the killed belonged to Eziddin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, while the sixth was a member of the Quds Brigades of the Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

In a press release, Al-Qassam Brigades identified its killed activists as Hammouda Al-Sharfa, Osama Assaf, Saed Nabhan, Jawdat Nabhan, and Mahmoud Al-Motawaq, adding that they were from Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip.

The brigades said another group of its activists survived an Israeli attack Thursday morning.

Israeli jet planes fired a rocket at activists in Beit Hanoun, north of Gaza Strip, however it exploded near them, it said.

Seven Palestinians were injured Wednesday evening in a series of Israeli air raids on the areas of Al-Nusairat, Khan Younis, Beit Lahya, and the Bedouin village in the Strip.

Thursday morning, Israeli forces, backed up by tanks, penetrated in the eastern parts of Al-Tuffah district located north of Gaza city.

Local radio stations said the incursion took place under the cover of Israeli planes.

Israeli forces are opening heavy fire at Palestinians and their homes and explosions are heard every now and then in the district in which special units of the Israeli Army are searching a number of houses and arresting their residents.
