BHEL to execute Uttar Pradesh mega power project

New Delhi : State owned power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a Rs.34 billion contract to execute a power project at Anpara in Uttar Pradesh, the company said Friday.

“The company has secured a mega contract for setting up two units of 500 MW each. Valued at Rs.33.90 billion, the order has been placed on BHEL by the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL),” BHEL said in a statement.

The units are slated for commissioning during 2011-12, it added.

“UPRVUNL has placed this order on BHEL through price negotiations,” the company’s official spokesperson told IANS.

BHEL is already executing UPRVUNL Parichha expansion and Harduaganj green-field thermal power projects. “On commissioning, the proposed plant will generate 24 million units of electricity a day,” BHEL said.
