New Delhi : India’s wholesale price index surged to 4.11 percent in the week ending Jan 26 as against 3.93 percent in the preceding week on the back of hike in prices of food articles and manufactured items, data released Friday showed.
During this period, prices of several food items such as maize, wheat, moong, spices and condiments increased while the prices of salt, bread and mustard oil got cheaper.
The index representing fuel, power, light and lubricant remained unchanged at the previous week’s level.
During the corresponding week last year, the inflation rate stood at 6.69 percent.
