Erdogan calls on NATO to continue mission in Afghanistan

Berlin : The North Atlantic Treat Organization (NATO) should continue its efforts for peace in Afghanistan, stated Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday.

This came during the inauguration of the 44th Munich Conference on Security Policy.

Erdogan warned during his speech from the globalization terrorism, indicating that efforts against terrorist organization must continue on an international level to fend this menace.

The Turkish official also showcased his country’s efforts to fight terrorism through conducting operations against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) operatives in Turkey and other countries.

Also during his speech, Erdogan touched on the issue of Turkish to attain the membership of EU, saying that his country would do what it takes to join the union.

The conference will focus on several issues such as NATO’s future plans and nuclear weapons disarming.

NATO members expressed different views regarding sending more troops to Afghanistan.

The US is calling for reinforcement of peacekeeping troops in southern Afghanistan while Germany has other plans for deployment, sending Special Forces to the northern region of the Asian country.
