Israeli warplanes strike on Gaza, one killed

Gaza : Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on different targets in the Gaza Strip shortly after midnight, killing one Hamas militant and wounding about 10 people, witnesses and medics said.

The Israeli airstrikes came after militant groups continued launching homemade rockets from Gaza Strip at Israeli towns and communities in southern Israel.

Israeli Radio reported that a Palestinian homemade rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit a house in southern Israeli town of Sderot, and wounded two Israelis, including one child.

Palestinian witnesses said that an F-16 warplane fired one missile at a blacksmith store in southern Gaza City, adding that a huge explosion was heard, where rescue teams and firefighters were called to the scene.

Mo’aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services said on telephone that eight civilians were injured in the airstrike. Witnesses said the building was badly damaged.

Earlier on Saturday night, an Islamic Hamas militant was killed when an Israeli aircraft fired one missile at a group of militants in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.

Medics in Rafah Hospital said that Mohamed Imteir, a militant leader in Hamas movement’s armed wing, was killed, adding that two other Hamas militants were injured.

Hamas sources, meanwhile, said that Israeli aircrafts carried out a third airstrike also on Saturday night at a post belongs to Hamas armed wing in the town of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported.

Palestinian residents of Rafah town said that Israeli aircrafts came back again and hit by rockets a building, said to be used as a store for arms and rockets that belong to Hamas movement.
