Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Datta Karale told IANS that while a case has been lodged against Raj Thackeray in the Vikhroli police station, the Shivaji Park police station has booked Azmi.

“The cases against the two leaders pertain to causing enmity between ethnic groups which resulted in rioting and assault on several people in the state in the past 10 days,” Karale said.

Raj Thackeray had held a public meeting in Mumbai’s Vikhroli suburb Feb 2, during which he hurled invectives against non-Marathi speaking people who live here, with specific reference to north Indians.
