The detentions took place in the cities of Hebron, Tulkarem and Qalqilia, the sources added. Israel says the people were detained for being wanted by the Israeli security agencies.

Israel boosted up security measures in the West Bank since last week following a suicide attack into southern Israeli town Dimona on Jan. 4. The suicide-bombers were from West Bank city of Hebron.

But the Israeli incursions and detention campaigns have been going on and did not stop when Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) launched peace talks in December.

Meanwhile, security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrested 13 members of rival Hamas movement in the West Bank, the Islamic movement said in a statement.

The pro-Abbas forces have been cracking down on Hamas since June last year in response to Hamas’ takeover of Gaza Strip by force.
