Kabul : Eleven Pakistani nationals and 10 Afghans, who were abducted three days ago in Afghanistan’s western Farah province, have been released, a local official said Wednesday.
“The 21 people abducted by anti-government militants three days ago have been released by their abductors following the efforts made by the Farah’s administration,” Noorullah Khan, an aide to provincial governor Mohaidin Baloch, said.
“Nineteen of them were released from kidnappers’ custody Tuesday and the remaining two were set free Wednesday,” he added.
All these people were local labours, the official said, adding that some of them were looking for jobs there while some others were hunting precious birds.
He also denied news reports that some Arab nationals were among the kidnapped.
Earlier government officials accused Taliban militants of being responsible for the kidnapping, but so far no one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
