Egyptian players donate money to build mosque in Ghana

Cairo – (IINA)February 13 – In a gesture of thanksgiving to Allah, the Almighty, for winning the title of African football champions for the second time in a row, the Egyptian players decided to donate a part of their prize money to build a mosque in the City of Kumasi in Ghana. All the members of the team took a unanimous decision with regard to spending the money to support the Muslim community in this poor African city.

After three weeks of pulsating football, the 26th African Cup of Nations (AFCON) came to an end in the Ghanaian capital Accra last Sunday. Egypt recorded an unusual back-to-back victory in a repeat of 1986 final. The closing ceremony was graced among others by Ghana’s President John Agyekum Kuffuor and FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter.
