Islamabad : Pakistan successfully tested its Ghaznavi (Hataf-III) short-range earth-to-earth ballistic missile on Wednesday, having a 180.19 mile range and able to carry two nuclear warheads.
Acting Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro and Army Chief Gen.
Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani witnessed the test at the Army’s Special Forces Command.
This is the third test of short and medium-range missiles in recent weeks. The Shaheen 1 was tested January 25 and Ghauri Hataf-V on February 1.
The military release reports that the test closes the military winter training campaign in which the Pakistani Armed Forces tested its logistics and tactics.
The Ghaznavi missiles were first tested December 2003 and Pakistan held its first nuclear test in 1998, with military sources calculating its war heads at 50.
PM Soomro said Pakistan is proud of its strategic and scientific structure able to develop nuclear deterrent potential although it backs regional peace.
