Chopra way behind, Choi leads in US golf

Los Angeles : Daniel Chopra was lying way behind in the 78th spot after shooting a two-over 73 in the $6.2 million Northern Trust Open, but the Asian players continued their great start on the US PGA Tour as Korea’s K J Choi took the lead with a fine six-under 65.

Interestingly, Korean-born American Kevin Na is in the second place with a 66.

The first round was still incomplete with 17 players needing to come back Tuesday to finish it.

Chopra, born in Stockholm, but raised in India, shot a double bogey on his tenth hole, the first of the course, and that spoilt the day for him day as he ended with a 73. Chopra bogeyed the 15th and 16th holes, but did get a birdie on the 17th. He also had a birdie on fifth.

Chopra started the season with a win in Mercedes Benz Championship and Choi won the Sony Open. Na finished tied fourth at Sony Open as well as FBR Open.
