Stockholm : Kuwaits Ambassador to Sweden Sami Mohammed Al-Suleiman met here the Swedish Minister for Local Government and Financial Markets, Mats Odell during which the two sides discussed means to further boost the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting on Friday, Al-Suleiman briefed the Minister, who will be visiting Kuwait next month within the framework of a tour to the region, with the political and economic plans of the Kuwaiti government to become an important financial center in the region.
The Ambassador also discussed the strong economic components the Kuwaiti economy enjoys, thanks to its strategic geographic location and political stability, in addition to the laws it adopted that encourage foreign investment.
For his part, Odell stressed the importance of his upcoming visit to Kuwait as it would help boost the economic and trade relations between Kuwait and Sweden.
The Minister affirmed that the Gulf region has become a major economic power where big economic and investment prospects and opportunities have been offered there.
The Swedish official revealed that he will be discussing several ideas and projects with his counterparts during his tour, which includes Kuwait, the UAE and Qatar.
The Swedish exports to Kuwait reached about KD 40 million in 2007, whereas the Kuwaiti exports to Sweden reached only KD 167,000.
