130 students in finals of Destination NASA contest

Hyderabad : A total of 130 students from across India will log into 24X7guru.com Destination NASA contest finals to be held Sunday.

The top 10 winners from among the 130 finalists selected nationally, along with one parent and a teacher each, will fly to NASA. The NASA trip is tentatively scheduled for May 2008. The winners will also have a special meeting with Bollywood actor and director Aamir Khan.

The finalists spread across 12 cities – Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Indore, Patna, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Jaipur – will take part in an online contest Sunday.

Destination NASA ran across 13 cities from Nov 28, 2007. The qualifying rounds have been conducted in two phases in which over 49,000 students from different schools registered, said a company statement here.

The contest was organised by 24X7guru.com and Radio Mirchi and was launched by Aamir Khan.

The basic idea behind Destination NASA contest is to reward well performing kids and also drive the values of a concept and fundamentals based education system in the country.
