Kabul : At least 15 people are feared dead as a powerful blast rocked the city of Kandahar, the capital of the Kandahar province.
The Interior Ministry in Kabul confirmed the blast, but would not give the exact number of casualties. Spokesman for the ministry Zmaray Bashari said several people have been killed and many more injured in the explosion.
The spokesman was also unable to elaborate if those killed and injured were civilians or military personnel.
A police officer in the city of Kandahar said he had seen at least 15 dead bodies on the scene of the explosion. Many were rushed to hospital through government and private vehicles with serious injuries, he added, and feared the number of dead might go up.
It was not immediately known if this was a bomb blast or an attack carried out by a suicide bomber and who was the target of the blast.
