New Delhi : A high alert was sounded in the Indian capital Monday following intelligence reports that terrorists planned to strike in the city.
“We have inputs about possible terrorist activities in Delhi. We have intensified checking and are searching guest houses and possible hideouts. A high alert has been sounded,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnail Singh told IANS.
A Delhi Police spokesman said bomb experts and sniffer dog squads had been alerted. Intensive checks were being carried out at the borders of the capital.
“Special searches are on at busy markets, Delhi Metro stations and the airport,” the official added.
