Gaza : Meetings between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Euhd Olmert were waste of time, Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said on Monday.
Instead of stopping the “useless” discussions in response to the Israeli attacks on Gaza, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) “eagerly goes ahead in these meetings and this gives the Zionist enemy a green light and encourages it to expand targeting our people,” Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan said.
Abbas and Olmert are set to meet on Tuesday in Jerusalem. According to Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, Abbas will propose a mutual ceasefire to end the escalation in Gaza.
But for Hamas, “there is no meaning for calmness under this Israeli escalation,” Radwan said, referring to the killing of four Palestinians in an army incursion in southern Gaza Strip on Sunday.
“This offensive and threats will not suppress our Palestinian people and won’t push them to give up their rights and raise the white flag… the resistance is the natural response to the Israeli crimes,” Radwan continued.
