Islamabad : Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Qazi Muhammad Farooq said on Monday that it was too early to predict about the likely percentage in the general elections.
He was talking with media persons after visiting polling stations in G-6/2 Boys School and G-6 -1/3 in Islamabad.
To a question he said that there is no legal provision for re-polling in case of low turn out in the elections.
However he said that with the passage of time more and more voters were flocking to the polling stations and the polling process was picking up.
“It is more imaginary than real and there is no provision in the law about re-polling if the turn out remains low”, he said adding that there was no benchmark or ceiling for turn out.
To a question about additional ballot papers he said that about 80,000 additional ballot papers have been published.
During his visit to the polling stations he met the staff there and expressed his satisfaction over the conduct of polling process in smooth and orderly manner.
The CEC also met voters present there who expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made there.
