In a statement, the Chief Minister noted with satisfaction that polling

was by and large peaceful in the province and the people used their right to cast

vote in a free atmosphere. He, however, cautioned the revellers and their supporters celebrating their success not to harm the sentiments of their rivals and thus avoid any law and order problem.

He said all the Punjab machinery had been directed to show complete impartiality and they fully cooperated and abided by these instructions in this regard. He also thanked the police personnel and other law enforcing agencies for their important role in holding fair polls.

“As a nation we have proved that we have the ability to strengthen the democratic process and can hold free and fair elections”, he stated. Justice (retd) Ejaz Nisar prayed for political stability and stronger democracy in the country.
