Chaudhary is posted in the vigilance department of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB). “I have received threat calls and SMSes from the underworld for the past few days. The underworld and cyber criminals are after me,” she said to the media.

“I met a woman, who works in a BPO of Hyderabad, during professional training at Xavier Labour Research Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur. I suspected her activities and started gathering information about her,” she said.

Chaudhary said: “There is a cyber crime gang which collects information about any individual and passes on the information to the underworld. And the underworld makes threatening calls for extortion and other kinds of benefits”.

The inspector general (IG) has sent a letter to higher authorities and sought security. Chaudhary, however, refused to divulge detailed information regarding the threat calls she had received.

Top ranking police officials of Jharkhand are baffled by Chaudhary’s revelation.

“Chaudhary should reveal why she is getting threatening calls. Who are the persons giving threat calls and sending SMSes to her?” a top cop told IANS.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda said: “The IG should have informed the state government about the threat instead of talking to media persons. We will look into the matter.”
