Tirkey sat Feb 12 on an indefinite fast, protesting against the statement of the state’s Rural Development Minister Enos Ekka against the Congress. Ekka too belongs to the Congress.

“My fight against corruption will continue,” said Niel Tirkey, after breaking his fast.

Asked about his decision to boycott the assembly session, the Congress legislator said: “I am going to New Delhi and will talk to central leaders. Thereafter, I will take final decision on the issue”.

Maken arrived at Ranchi to secure end to the Congress legislator’s fast.

“We are sticking to our stand. We cannot compromise on the issue of corruption and development of the state. We are consulting our allies so that we are not blamed for toppling the government,” said Maken to reporters in Ranchi.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi had met Tirkey Wednesday evening and held a closed-door meeting with him.
